Prior to founding and taking the helm of WaterFleet, LLC, Mr. Pyle was the President and CEO of Steelhead, Inc. for 23 years.
Alan’s capabilities in the engineering field cover mechanical design, process development and design, electrical and electronic design and programming, as well as manufacturing process management. Using these capabilities, Mr. Pyle brought a much needed solution to the oil exploration sector in the form of The Water Rig and supporting systems. In order to assure the introduction and expansion of these solutions into the market, he founded WaterFleet, LLC with Allison Pyle, his wife, in January 2014.
Mr. Pyle has a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University. He has three children and resides in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife of 32 years.
Ms. Pyle is the Chief Financial Officer for WaterFleet, LLC. She brings over two decades of experience in small business operation, accounting and financial analysis.
Ms. Pyle earned a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Texas. She began her professional career as an auditor with the international accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand. She obtained her CPA license in both Colorado and Texas in 1985. Ms. Pyle has been integrally involved in the start-up and eventual sale of a multi-million dollar bottled water business, working in all areas of accounting and finance design, reporting, sale and closing. Ms. Pyle has served as CFO and Treasurer of Steelhead, Inc. for the last 10 years. She oversaw the accounting and finance function of the manufacturing business, including negotiating with banks and vendors, financial data preparation and presentation, and financial policy development and implementation. Ms. Pyle has three children, and lives with her husband of 32 years in San Antonio, Texas.
Robert A. Nicol, P.E.
Mr. Nicol has more than 40 years of general and specialized experience in the engineering, construction and operation of multi-million dollar public works facilities. During his career, Mr. Nicol has been responsible for over $1.5B in public and private utility construction.
Since 2012, Mr. Nicol has served as Water Treatment Engineer for Steelhead, Inc., providing engineering services for a wide variety of water and wastewater treatment systems. He has worked on preliminary design and cost development for projects world-wide, while providing detailed engineering for specific projects throughout Texas, as well as in Iraq, Kenya, Sudan and Mozambique.
Mr. Nicol has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston. He has been a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas since 1979.
Brad J. Murdock
Mr. Murdock has more than 15 years of experience in operational management, including extensive work in Six Sigma evaluations and implementation, holding a black belt credential in that discipline. Prior to joining WaterFleet, Mr. Murdock held several key positions at a major CAT dealer, building departments and programs, managing sales groups, and leading special projects.
As Operations Director for WaterFleet, Mr. Murdock is applying past knowledge and capability to the rapidly growing operations group, including field operations structure, monitoring programs, and HSE program development.
Mr. Murdock holds a bachelors degree from Texas A&M University and resides with his wife and two children in Boerne, Texas.
Casey T. McDermand
Director of Business Development – Oil & Gas
Mr. McDermand has more than 10 years of experience in the services market, specializing in oil field and related surface rental products. During his career, Mr. McDermand has served in all facets of business, including service management, new facility development, marketing, and direct sales.
Mr. McDermand brings that strong experience to WaterFleet, along with a keen understanding of the needs of WaterFleet’s clients. Since 2015, he has provided leadership at WaterFleet in both the operations and sales areas.
Mr. McDermand has a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and resides in San Antonio, Texas.
Walter W. Friend
Director of Business Development – Construction
Mr. Friend has extensive experience in the EPC Construction world, including 20+ years at Bechtel in a variety of project management and business development roles, including a high level of understanding related to procurement, project development, and the unique aspects of LNG, power plant, mechanical and other construction projects. As the Director of Construction Business Development, Friend is developing the pathways for WaterFleet’s unique offerings in this business vertical.
Mr. Friend has a B.A. from the University of California – Berkeley, and an MBA from Fuqua School of Business – Duke University. He resides in San Antonio, TX.
Matt Herschell, M.Ed, COSS
Human Resources and Health, Safety & Environmental Director
Mr. Herschell has been involved in QHSE compliance management for over 18 years. Before joining WaterFleet he served as the Director of HR & HSE for a major precast concrete manufacturing and construction firm, and then worked for several years as an HSE Consultant in the Oil & Gas industry. Mr. Herschell specializes in HSE program enhancement & implementation, instructional design, and organizational development. In addition to directing both the HR and HSE Departments Mr. Herschell oversees WaterFleet’s Training & Development Group. He is most fulfilled by the opportunity to provide leadership to WaterFleet’s dedicated workforce as they expand their professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Mr. Herschell received his master’s degree in Human Resources Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been married to Dr. Heather Herschell for over 14 years. They have two children and live near both of their families in San Antonio, TX.
Sean A. Katz
Director of Technical Services
Mr. Katz has been a WaterFleeter since 2014, bringing a solid background of experience in technical services from the Railroad and Oil & Gas industries. Katz operates as the lead technical services provider to the field operations of WaterFleet, overseeing the health of the extensive water treatment fleet in operation, and managing the specialists that perform high level maintenance and upgrade work.
Greg Massari, P.E.
Director of Technical Projects
Mr. Massari brings his career of experience in mechanical design, project development and management, research, and technical documentation expertise to WaterFleet. Massari oversees a multitude of projects related to equipment enhancement, upgrade, troubleshooting, and documentation, necessary to the continued improvement and enhancement of WaterFleet’s fleet and offering.
Mr. Massari has a B.S. in Engineering Sciences from Trinity University and resides in San Antonio, TX.
